When Japan won the Women’s World Cup

I cried (out of happiness. I was rooting for Japan). 1) Because Japan needed something like that after the tsunami and most importantly 2) Rina and I were soccer fanatics (we’d watch championships, male or female, together) as little kids, and have this on going rivalry of Japan v Colombia, so when Japan won, I was so happy because Rina would’ve been through the roof celebrating.

And now, if the US beats Japan in the Olympics (the US V Japan women’s soccer rivalry is an interesting one), I can’t help it if I’ll be a little sad if not upset. (Mainly because the US has always dominated in women’s soccer and it gets tiring after a while. I mean, if they’re not playing Colombia or Japan, I’d root for them but gah it’s so hard to).

Just re-found one of Rina’s letters from Japan.

Finding these letters (again and again) is always bittersweet.

One talks about how awesome Tokyo is, how she was able to adapt well to the move there, and how we better not lose touch with another because she’d track me down and kick me ass when ..if she’d..ever come back to the states

Oh god, she quoted ‘Lilo & Stitch’. ” ‘Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind’. We are family, so we will not leave each other behind.”

I’mma go set up make a note….I don’t care how far away or care free or move with the flow shit y’all are, I’m gonna write letters to all of my friends who’re leaving for college.Even if you won’t reply.
